Identify Problem

Many people, myself included, often struggle
with sorting waste
and figuring out the proper ways to dispose of it while cleaning up at home. Talking to others, I realized how common this challenge is, and it’s something many of us find frustrating as we try to make more eco-friendly choices.

My Goal

My goal is to create an app that empowers users to easily identify and sort their household waste, while also providing engaging tips and insights on how to manage waste more efficiently and sustainably. It's all about turning everyday waste into a learning opportunity, helping users make smarter choices for a cleaner, greener world!

Questions to assess waste categorization knowledge

  • Have you faced challenges when sorting garbage? What were the obstacles?

  • How important is sustainability to you, and how do you engage with it daily?

  • Would discounts at secondhand stores motivate you to answer questions about garbage disposal, or is a gamified approach better?

  • Have you discussed environmental protection with your children? Why is it important to educate them?

  • Do you watch environmental documentaries? What are your thoughts on industrial contamination?

Interesting Insight

People avoid environmental documentaries, finding them too dense and somber, showing a preference for lighter, more engaging content on sustainability.

People want their children to be more environmentally conscious, despite general confusion about environmental issues.

Widespread confusion about waste sorting, especially unclear items, highlights the need for accessible information and clearer guidelines.

People prefer interactive games over quizzes for learning about waste sorting and conservation, finding them more engaging and enjoyable.

Solution

The app lets users scan a barcode, snap a photo, speak, or type a question to get guidance on the right bin for their item.

The app includes games to improve waste-sorting skills and rewards users with second-hand store discounts for completing sustainability challenges.

The app's community feature lets users share and explore sustainability-focused outdoor activities, fostering engagement and environmental stewardship.

3. Enhance the calendar feature by adding reminders for garbage                      collection and street cleaning.
4. Change recycle tag into a chip
5. Explain the redeem rule and where the user can find their                              redeemed barcode.
6. Finish community function.
7. Integrate related searches within the search results.
